Meta Unveils New VR Headset Prototypes: Are We Too Far Down the Meta Hole?

Mark Zuckerberg has started his newest undertaking with the metaverse, and it starts with his new VR headset. Mark Zuckerberg's goal with this new headset is to make virtual reality indistinguishable from real life. With his newest prototype the starburst, he says that it will give users virtual experiences that are so closely related to real life. These binoculars, which are impractical at the moment, are in testing phases so that its final product can be an immersive experience and embodiment into the internet or metaverse. Zuckerberg wants these glasses to be the next best thing when it comes to virtual reality. Gone are the days when we thought VR was just an impractical illusion. Now we are looking at the next best version of the VR headset which is what Zuckerberg aims to achieve. Right now this headset looks completely unusable, it looks as if you would take a 1990s computer and put it on top of your face. But as this goes through testing, we are bound to see some more adoption into this model and if Zuckerberg's hopes come true, we will see real life in front of our eyes.

Some of the issues that current VR headsets have are what Zuckerberg aums to champion with the latest headset. He wants objects and experiences in the metaverse to seem as if they're happening right in front of your eyes. While we have issues such as distance and focusing with our natural eyes when using a virtual reality headset, Zuckerberg's hope is that even with this headset on your eyes, you will be able to perceive things as they do in everyday occurrences. You will be able to grab items and objects relative to the distance of they are away from you in the metaverse, and you'll be able to read, see peripherally, and decipher distance using this headset.

But do we think that we're getting too far away from what the VR was originally created for? We originally found this alluring because it was an escape from actual day-to-day life. We were able to put on her head sets and play basketball with celebrities if we wanted to, but now that this is starting to immerse itself into a more realistic experience, how could we possibly lose ourselves in it?

The line will soon become blurred as to what is reality and what isn't. But I could be wrong, maybe more people would love to be able to escape from the day to day, but it is a fine line. FACEBOOK’S ON BOARD METAVERSE AND THE SOCIAL MEDIA TITAN

If you haven’t heard, Mark Zuckerberg has been trending recently for testing out a headset that looks strikingly similar to the Oculus. These prototype headsets are allegedly concepts for the Facebook metaverse products that are being tested out. Facebook has been toying with the idea of adding virtual reality gadgets into their brand, and they are moving full steam ahead. While Zuckerberg and his colleague can be seen trying on a variety of headsets, ranging from size to design, we can’t help but wonder, how do they plan to map this out?

It’s a big leap for Facebook, but not an unattainable one. Everyone has been trying to implement new ways to capitalize and join in on the metaverse. Facebook has been spearheading some of the biggest tech milestones within the past decade, and we can already see this with their new Ray-Ban sunglasses which allow wearers to capture photos and videos. So will we be able to connect with friends on Facebook in a virtual reality setting? Or will Facebook games now be played in real-time in the metaverse? Only time will tell, but we’re interested in learning more.
