It's about to get real.
In September, Immersive Gamebox will launch a multiplayer experience based on Netflix's hit series Squid Game that will immerse you in the terrifying world of the franchise—and it's not for the faint of heart.
The experience is adults-only (16+), and features challenges for players to beat. Players can compete against each other or work together to navigate their way through the gameboxes' touch screens and motion sensing technology.
"People are constantly seeking new and different ways to remain invested in their favorite content," says Immersive Gamebox CEO Will Dean. "We're excited to offer a completely different kind of immersive experience that lets viewers feel like they're part of the action."
What kind of activities can you expect from this game? Well… they can't give away all the secrets! But if you've been following TikTok or watching videos online, then you probably already know about some of our more popular games: Red Light Green Light and Tug of War are definitely included as well as the Dalgona Candy challenge we've been seeing all over TikTok lately.
I don't know about you but I am excited and terrified. After watching squid games, I was both enthralled and captured with the show but also deeply disturbed at the thought of this even being a possibility. With this new installation, I'm curious how they're going to play out some of the more gory moments that we saw in Squid games when a player loses.
But, you have to admit this is kind of cool. For instance Netflix also put on the Bridgerton experience, they made the popular show come to life before people's eyes at a ball just like one that they threw on the show. This is similar to what they hope to do with the squid game experience. And, I have to give it to Netflix. They know how to make a killing on their shows. They are great at repurposing things and making more money than ever before. Like I mentioned they did it with Bridgerton, and stranger things and now this.
While I'm all for the AI of making it seem like real life, I think this is one thing I'd rather not see play out. But I do love the idea of being able to compete in various games with others, especially in an installation like this. I'm sure that the AI we will see will be top-notch and pretty out of this world.
